53 People Test Positive as Covid-19 Death Toll Hits 5,330

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 23rd November, confirmed 53 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally of infections to 254,781.

The new cases were detected from some 5,031 samples tested, bringing country’s cumulative tests to 2,807,014. The country’s positivity rate is at 1.1 per cent.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases, 48 are Kenyans while five are foreigners with 32 being males while 21 are females. The youngest is a 19-year-old while the oldest is 95.

He confirmed that 17 patients had recovered from the disease, 12 from the home-based care programme, while five have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,992.

Sadly, two more patients have succumbed to the virus rising the number of deaths to 5,330.

There are 348 patients currently admitted to various health facilities across the country while another 975 are in home-based isolation and care.

Some 20 patients are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), nine are on ventilatory support, 11 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 112 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 111 of them being admitted in the general wards and one patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination: As of November 22nd 2021, a total of 6,494,091 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 4,033,811 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,460,280.
