Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has pleaded with fellow Kenyans to wait for his side of the story on last Friday’s nightclub shooting in Kilimani, Nairobi, that has seen him placed in police custody.

Speaking hours after he was remanded for seven more days on Monday, 20th January, the controversial lawmaker suggested that he is innocent.

He indicated in a social media post that he would also be seeking justice.

“I urge Kenyans to wait for my side of the story on what happened when I come from my new home at Industrial Area Prison. I also need justice and it must be served to me,” he wrote.

Owino was charged with the attempted murder of DJ Evolve, whom he allegedly shot in the neck after an argument in B-Club.

He denied the allegation and asked the court to release him on bail. The court ruled that his application would be heard and determined next Monday.

In a video widely circulated online, Owino is seen firing at the DJ using his pistol.

It is still unclear what led to the shooting.

DJ Evolve is still recovering at Nairobi Hospital after a successful surgery to remove the bullet.
