AFC Leopards defeated Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) defending champions Tusker 1-0 in their 2021/22 season-opening league match at the Thika Stadium on Sunday, 26th September.
Saad Musa’s first-half strike was enough for Ingwe to secure the three crucial points.
The brewers’ acting captain, Boniface Muchiri, failed to level the score in the 62nd minute from the spot-kick.
Speaking after the match, Leopards assistant coach Tom ‘Gaza’ Juma said the win was important to inspire the team and the fans amid financial troubles at the club.
“I’m happy because we psyched up the boys for the match and they got it right. The coach (Belgian Patrick Aussems) may not be here but we have been in touch. Even this morning, we discussed the way to approach the match. He will be back next week,” Juma told Citizen Digital.
Juma called on fans and well-wishers to come to the team’s aid financially.
