Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Saturday night, 21st November, arrested 44 schoolchildren and their host in a house at Nairobi’s Mountain View Estate.
During the operation, the police seized various brands of alcohol, including whisky and Vodka, and bhang (cannabis sativa).
According to the DCI, the 26 boys and 18 girls, all in primary and secondary school, are aged between 14 and 17.
Their host, Millicent Kithinji, aged 41, was picked up for questioning by detectives from Dagoretti.
Preliminary investigations revealed the children were from Nairobi, Kiambu and Machakos counties.
Already, the police officers have contacted some of their parents.
“Investigations are ongoing to establish how the children sneaked out of their homes and travelled that far without raising suspicion from their parents. Police also want to establish why the woman had hosted the children and how the children got to her house,” said the DCI.
“The DCI once again requests parents to take a keen interest in their children’s activities at home and on the social media networks. Stern legal action will be taken against adults who abuse children.”
Their arrest comes just a day after the DCI revealed that there is a cartel using social media account dubbed Carty-gang-ent to lure schoolgirls from their homes for partying orgies that go on for days.
