Arsenal recorded their third win of the new English Premier League season after defeating Sheffield United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 4th October.
Bukayo Saka, who received a call-up to the England squad last week, opened the scoring for the Gunners with a clever header in the 61st minute. Substitute Nicolas Pepe added the second in the 64th minute.
Sheffield’s only goal was scored by David McGoldrick in the 83rd minute. The Blades have lost all their four Premier League start matches this season.
Speaking at a press conference after the match, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he was impressed with the result.
“I am happy we played the game that we had to. We had the right patience. We created the right moments in the game when a lot of spaces started to open up towards the second half and scored two great goals. When that happens we need to improve to score the third one and then the game is gone,” Arteta was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.
With this victory, Mikel Arteta’s men, who beat Liverpool on penalties in the Carabao Cup in midweek, moved up to fourth in the Premier League standings with nine points from three wins and one defeat.
Chris Wilder’s team remains in the 18th place with no point from the four matches played so far in the 2020/21 campaign.
The English League will enter the international break for two weeks after which Arsenal will clash with Manchester City on Saturday, 17th September, while Sheffield United will face Fulham the same day.
