Arsenal secured a 2-1 win against Sheffield United on Sunday, 28th June, to book a date at Wembley Stadium next month for a duel with Manchester City.
The victory against Sheffield United propelled Arsenal into the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Nicolas Pepe scored the opening goal of the match in the 25th minute when the Gunners were awarded a penalty after Chris Basham brought down Alexandre Lacazette.
In the second half, David McGoldrick scored an equaliser in the 87th minute. But with few minutes to stoppage time, Dani Ceballos struck a stunning goal to put Arsenal ahead and hand his side victory.
Arsenal defender David Luiz made his first appearance since his disastrous performance against Manchester City while captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started on the bench.
Arsenal have qualified for the semi-final of the FA Cup for the 30th time, the joint-most of any club in the competition’s history, along with Manchester United.
Arsenal will now return to action on 1st July when they take on Norwich City in the English Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently in the ninth spot in the English Premier League, with 43 points.
In another FA match, Chelsea edged Leicester City 1-0 to proceed to the semifinals. Ross Barkley scored the winning goal for the Blues in the 63rd minute.
Yesterday, Manchester United beat Norwich City 2-1 to qualify for the semifinals, which will be played at Wembley on the weekend of 18th-19th July.
