Embakasi East MP Babu Owino will this afternoon go live on social media to help this year’s KCSE exam candidates revise for the tests in one of their subjects.
Owino asked the students to get ready with pen and paper today, 1st May at 1pm, as he would take them through a mathematics lesson.
“Stay tuned tomorrow (1st May) on my Facebook live at 1pm, as I will be leading KCSE exam candidates in revision for mathematics,” he wrote on Facebook.
The energetic lawmaker asked his Facebook followers to help him reach the candidates, adding that it would be time well spent.
“Kindly inform the candidates you know to tune in with a pen and paper. Hii itakuwa noma you must watch,” Owino stated.
The legislator made the decision to help the candidates who are at home due to the coronavirus pandemic after the government said that it had no plan to postpone the KCPE and KCSE exams.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said the candidates would be tested only on the course work covered when they were in school.
The Embakasi East MP had earlier asked CS Magoha to take the exam to him for verification before administering it on students.
The former university student leader noted that he was qualified enough to be an examiner because he is a product of the current education system.
“I have gone through school and passed highly. I went to university and studied actuarial science and law. I have two master’s degrees in both law and actuarial science. I scored 403 marks in KCPE, so I am overqualified in verifying exams and, in fact, I can even set them,” said Owino.
He scored an A-minus in his KCSE exam and jointed the University of Nairobi (UoN) for a course in actuarial science, graduating with first class honours degree.
