Veteran Kenyan musician David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, has released a new song titled, Bandana ya Esir. It features fellow artistes Trio Mio, Nelly the Goon, Habib, and DMore.
The song is a tribute to music sensation Esir, who died at 21 following a tragic road accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. He was on his way back to Nairobi from performing at a concert at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium in 2003.
Esir was known for his deft lyrical ability and mastery of rapping skills. He could have turned 40 this year.
The video of this new song features some veteran musicians such as Nameless’s wife, Wahu, Jua Cali, Wyre, and Nyashinski.
Upon releasing the song, Nameless confessed that Esir was like a brother to him, and that is why he decided to carry out the music project.
“This project we are about to release is very close to my heart. We celebrate our brother Esir, with a cross-generation of artistes! Some veterans made a cameo to show love for our fallen friend,” Nameless said.
