One patient, who was diagnosed with the coronavirus disease in Kenya, has succumbed.

The 66-year-old Kenyan passed away in the Aga Khan Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in Nairobi.

The victim is reported to have been suffering from other health problems.

In a press statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that the patient arrived in the country on 13th March.

He came from South Africa via Swaziland.

The Heath CS has sent his message of condolence to the bereaved family.

The death comes just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta disclosed that one patient had fully recovered from Covid-19.

On Tuesday, 24th March, Health CS Kagwe revealed that two Covid-19 patients were in critical condition.

The country has confirmed 31 positive cases of Covid-19 two weeks after the first patient was diagnosed.

With one death reported, the country now has 30 coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile, at least 16 other suspected cases of the deadly disease have been admitted to Mbagathi Hospital.

The government is also monitoring 700 people who have interacted with the diagnosed patients.
