Retired President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi is dead.

His death has been announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning, 4th February . He died at Nairobi Hospital in front of his family.

Mzee Moi has been in and out of hospital for what his family termed as regular medical check-ups.

In October last year, Kenyans raised concern about his health, but his personal aide, Lee Njiru, dispelled the rumour that he had died, stating that Mzee Moi was just ill.

The self-proclaimed ‘professor of politics’ underwent knee surgery in the same hospital in 2017 following complications brought about by a road accident that he was involved in 2004.

Moi assumed leadership in 1978 following the death of founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. He ruled for 24 years before handing over power to Mwai Kibaki in 2002.

He died at the age of 96.

Aw, this was a really nice post. Finding the time and actual effort to produce
a superb article… but what can I say… I put things off a lot and
don’t seem to get nearly anything done.
