Canada End Kenya Sevens Cup Quarter Finals Dream in Los Angeles

Kenya national rugby sevens team Shujaa is out of the cup quarters after losing 24-0 to Canada in the Los Angeles, United States, playoff match at Dignity Health Park on Sunday.

The fifth leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2020 kicked off on Saturday in Los Angeles, California.

Kenya lost their opening Pool B match against bitter rivals South Africa, falling 5-31 at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday.

Shujaa won one match against Ireland 29-12 and lost two pool matches against South Africa and Canada.

Coming into the Los Angeles Sevens, Kenya were ranked 11th with 26 points in the 16-team series. New Zealand lead the series with 76 points, followed by South Africa with 67 points. France are third with 56 points.

Shujaa will now play Samoa tonight at 7:37pm EAT in the ninth place playoff match of the Los Angeles leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.

After Los Angeles, the teams will head to Canada for the sixth leg of the season to be held in Vancouver next weekend.
