Nairobi disc jockey Felix Orinda, who is popularly known as DJ Evolve, has shocked many today, 16th October, by asking for the attempted murder charge against Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to be dropped.
Speaking several months after being discharged from the Nairobi Hospital, where he was admitted for several months, DJ Evolve said he wants the case withdrawn.
The DJ, who has been bedridden since the shooting at B-Club in the Kilimani area, told the court through his lawyers that he wants to focus on his healing.
His lawyer, Kenneth Mumbo, told the court that they had reached a conclusion the case be withdrawn.
According to the entertainer’s lawyer, the decision followed intense deliberations between his family and the accused.
DJ Evolve that that the case had adversely affected his healing and he would like to concentrate on that only.
However, the prosecution said that more time wass needed to assess the entertainer’s mental state before charge can be withdrawn.
“It is my considered view that the application by the prosecution is merited and once the DPP satisfies himself of the issues raised, a comprehensive response will be given on the status of this case going forward,” the court said.
Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi granted the DPP time and asked them to appear in court on November 9 for the mention of the case.
