The fulfilment of a parent’s wishes always brings about an unparalleled feeling in many people.
It becomes a rollercoaster of emotions, especially if the parent passed on before the achievement.
Kameme FM radio presenter Benson Gathungu alias Muthee Kiengei Wa Watoria has been living his dream.
The comedian’s career in radio and in the entertainment industry has been flourishing.
But deep down in his heart, Kiengei knew he was missing something to make him complete.
His late mother had wished to see him become a church minister.
He gave up on becoming a priest, but as the Bible says, there is time for everything.
On Wednesday, 25th November, Kiengei was ordained as a pastor of the African Independent Pentecostal Churches of Africa (AIPCA) and will be serving the church in its Gatundu Township headquarters as the parish minister.
“Please bear with my family’s decision. Thank you to my elder brother, Pastor Kiarie, for respecting my mother’s wish and holding me back to service. Doing this was not easy, but right,” he said.
The comic noted that some people believe he is not serious and maybe this is one of his jokes.
He also said the move would cost him friends, but he does not mind about that as long as God is on his side.
“To those who have a different opinion, please, this is not about you. To my disappointed friends, take note of the new development. Paths are not the same,” he said.
While co-hosting the Kameme breakfast show this morning, 26th November, Kiengei said he was happy about his new assignment.
He then jokingly said the first thing he would do is to get the keys to the room where the wine is kept: “On Sunday, I have to get the keys and keep them.”
