Police in Nandi County have launched a manhunt on Olympic steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto over defilement allegations.
Kipruto is being accused of defiling a Form Two schoolgirl.
According to a report filed at Mosoroit Police Post, the parents of the girl allege that she went missing for three days.
They claim that their daughter had been camping at the athlete’s home in Chesumei before the incident.
Upon returning home, the girl reportedly refused to disclose where she was for three days.
However, the parents managed to get her phone and established that Kipruto had been in constant communication with her during that period.
The parents said they would take their daughter for medical examination.
Chesumei OCPD Bosita Omukolongolo said the suspect was still at large.
A report was filed at Mosoriot Police Post by the girl’s parents, who are claiming that Kipruto defiled their daughter.
“We cannot immediately confirm whether the girl is a minor or an adult. However, we are looking for the athlete whose whereabouts remain unknown,”
Omukolongolo said: “Upon arresting the suspect, we shall record his statement and thereafter conclude investigations into the defilement allegations.”
