For the third day running, the country has confirmed below 100 new cases of coronavirus within a period of 24 hours.

After confirming 48 and 96 cases on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, today, 16th September, 92 new cases were reported.

The latest Covid-19 update from the Ministry of Health shows that the case load has now hit 36,393.

According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi, 2,985 people were tested for the virus within the last 24 hours.

All the new cases are Kenyans except four, while 64 are males and 28 females. The oldest patient is 75 and the youngest is a two-year-old child.

Dr Mwangangi also announced that 165 more patients had recovered, raising the total number of discharges to 23,529.

Of the new discharges, 105 had been admitted to various hospitals while 60 had isolated themselves at home.

Unfortunately, three more patients have died and now the number of fatalities is 637.

The distribution of the cases by county is as follows:

Nairobi- 24

Mombasa- 20

Nakuru- eight

Garissa – seven

Uasin Gishu -six

Kisumu- five

Turkana and Kiambu – four cases each

Kakamega- three

Machakos, Kajiado and Busia – two cases each

Nyeri, Taita Taveta and Tana River – a single case each.
