Kitui traders are elated as the county government has announced it will soon start tarmacking roads In the towns and slums to ensure a clean environment, which is key for business and development.

The project was unveiled by the county minister of lands, infrastructure and housing, Jacob Kakundi, in Kitui Town this morning, 30th June.

He said that the county was keen to create a conducive for business, with work being done also in the Bondeni and Mosquito areas of Kitui Town.

Kakundi, an engineer, said the ‘Dustless Towns’ project would make use of products being manufactured at Manyenyoni in Kitui Central Sub-County.

“We have 500 youth employed in the manufacture of construction materials as one of the ways to ensure that the project fully benefits the local residents,” he said,

Mbitini, Sombe, Kyuso, Kwa Vonza and Kabati are among the towns that will be included in the project.

Kitui is among the several counties that have benefited from KeNHA road construction projects.

The Kitui-Kibwezi road, which is nearing completion, has greatly opened up the county for development, as it serves both Kitui and Makueni counties.
