81 Covid-19 Patients Recover as 16 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health on Monday, 25th October, confirmed 16 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours. This brings the country’s caseload to 252,688.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement that the cases were detected from the 1,318 samples tested, raising the total to 2,675,023. The positivity rate is at 1.2 per cent.

From the cases, all 16 are Kenyans, with nine being males and seven females. The youngest is a 20-year-old child while the oldest is 78.

Kagwe confirmed that 81 patients had recovered from the disease, 71 are from the home-based isolation and care programme, while 10 are from various health facilities. This has increased to 246,355, the total number of recoveries.

There are 493 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,391 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

Some 29 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support, 16 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 163 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 155 of them in general wards and eight in High Dependency Units (HDU).
