Covid-19: No New Deaths Reported as 88 Test Positive

The Ministry of Health on Thursday, 17th November announced 88 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,681 tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 254,541 the total number of confirmed cases in the country.

The cumulative number of samples tested to 2,785,672, the country’s positivity rate stands at 1.9 per cent.

From the cases, 87 are Kenyans and one foreigner with 68 being males and 20 females. The youngest is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 84 years.

Some 26 patients have recovered from the disease with 20 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while six are from health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,817.

No deaths were reported. The countrywide Covid-19 death toll remains at 5,325.

There are 364 patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 997 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

At the same time, 23 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 115 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 113 of them are in the general wards while two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Bungoma 43 cases, Mombasa seven, Nairobi and Busia six cases each, Kakamega, Makueni and Nakuru five cases each, Kericho three while Nandi, Narok, Nyeri, Turkana, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot, Baringo and Homa Bay had one case each.
