Sarova Hotels and Resorts has temporarily closed Thorn Tree Cafe after two employees tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement issued on Saturday, 4th July, the hotel management said that the two unnamed individuals were in stable condition and in isolation as per the Ministry of Health guidelines.
“We have closed the restaurant and implemented our health, safety and compliance protocols, which include fumigation of the entire hotel,” read part of the statement.
The management said that it would reapply for a new operating permit for the restaurant from the Ministry of Health.
“We would like to assure all our stakeholders that Sarova Hotels and Resorts continue to diligently and strictly adhere to the Ministry of health protocols and guidelines on health and safety. The wellbeing of our employees, their families and of our customers remains our top priority.”
This comes as the number of Covid-19 cases in the country maintained an upward trend, as 389 people tested positive from 4,829 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The total number of positive cases in Kenya now stands at 7,577 from cumulative tests of 185,035 samples.
