Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed’s daughter is topping the trending charts across the social media platforms this Sunday, 17th July, for all the wrong reasons.
The internet lost it after a photo of Firyal Nur posing with star athlete Ferdinand Omanyala went viral.
It was alleged that the photograph was taken in Eugene, Oregon, United States, during the ongoing World Athletics Championships. Omanyala is among the athletes representing Kenya.
However, sources have told Litkenya.com that the photo was taken at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi during a past event in which Firyal encountered the sprinter as a fan.
The social media narrative is that Firyal is among the 32 joyriders who were smuggled to Oregon last week before real participants obtained their visas.
Initially, Athletics Kenya (AK) approved 80 people to travel, but crooks at the Ministry of Sports added 32 joyriders.
Some athletes, African sprint champion Omanyala had to go through a rigorous process before their travel documents could be approved by the US Embassy in Nairobi since their names appeared below the official list.
Firyal is being crucified for allegedly travelling to the US at public expense.
We have sampled some reactions for you from furious netizens, but we must stress that the views expressed here reflect what the internet users are saying and Litkenya.com is not in anyway involved.
Dr Juma M: “Firyal, the daughter of Cs Amina Mohammed, is neither an athlete nor an official. She is among the 32 joyriders who almost made Omanyala miss the race.”
Polycarp Nyaberih: “CS AMINA MOHAMED’s daughter FIRYAL is among the joyriders in the US. She travelled 1 week before Omanyala using taxpayer’s money.”
Makali F Muli: “CS Amina Mohammed should shed light on whether her daughter Firyal was among the 32 joyriders to Oregon using public money. If true, it is wrong and irresponsible.”
Selina Teyie: “Why KOT (Kenyans on Twitter) should RESPECT the privacy of Firyal. Yes, she’s the daughter of CS Amina Mohammed. This picture was taken at Kasarani when she went to support Omanyala like any other Kenyan. She’s currently in Kenya and not in Oregon, as it’s being claimed.”
