Details: The Gun Drama at B Club in Nairobi That Led to MP Babu Owino’s Arrest

Controversial Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been arrested following a shooting incident at a popular Nairobi nightclub.

The shooting B Club in the Kilimani area is said to have left a reveller injured.

A detailed report from Kilimani Police Station shows that Babu Owino had an argument with a DJ at B Club.

The MP is alleged to have drawn his pistol and shot the DJ identified as Felix Orinda in the neck.

Police officers are at the scene looking for the cartridge or the pistol.

IT WAS REPORTED BY ONE GEORGE OTIENO, A SECURITY MANAGER AT B CLUB LOCATED ALONG GALANA ROAD WITHIN KILIMANI THAT TODAY, 17TH DAY OF JANUARY, 2020, AT AROUND 7:00AM HON. PAUL ONGILI BABU OWINO, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR EMBAKASI EAST, WAS IN THE CLUB WHEN HE ARGUED WITH THE DJ OF THE CLUB, NAMELY FELIX ORINDA. HE THEN DREW HIS PISTOL AND SHOT THE DJ IN THE NECK. THE VICTIM WAS RUSHED TO NAIROBI HOSPITAL IN SERIOUS CONDITION BY THE MANAGEMENT OF THE CLUB. SCCIO KILIMANI AND TEAM VISITED THE SCENE AND LATER PROCEEDED TO NAIROBI HOSPITAL AND ARRESTED THE MP, WHO IS CURRENTLY AT KILIMANI POLICE STATION. NO RECOVERY OF THE FIREARM OR THE CARTRIDGE. OFFICERS CURRENTLY AT THE SCENE SEARCHING FOR THE CARTRIDGE. THE SCENE WAS PROCESSED BY CRIME SCENE SUPPORT SERVICES. CASE PUI DCI KILIMANI DEALING.”

The victim is apparently in critical condition in the Nairobi Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).

This, however, is the first dramatic incident that MP Babu Owino has been involved in.

In 2018, Babu and one of his bodyguards, Fanuel, were arrested for assaulting a parking attendant at Fortis Towers in Westlands, Nairobi.

He and others appeared before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi charge with assaulting David Gichagu, causing him “actual bodily harm”.

Babu was separately charged with two counts of using insulting language in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace and create a disturbance.
