Deputy President William Ruto received a hostile reception at one of his rallies in Isiolo County today, 13th February.
A group of youth forced the second in command to cut short his speech in the town.
The relentless youthful men and women said the county was solidly behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
“In Isiolo we only know BBI,” they chanted.
They also dismissed the “Hustlers vs Dynasties” narrative, saying that it was divisive.
The hecklers carried placards and twigs bearing pro-BBI messages and slogans.
The DP tried to ignore the rowdy youth and continue with his speech, but the noise was too much.
He was forced to move to other places for meetings, including fundraisers in churches.
Though he has declared that he is not opposed to the BBI, DP Ruto has been quite critical of the push by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his ‘Handshake’ partner, ODM leader Raila Odinga for an amendment of the Constitution to expand the Executive by creating more top leadership positions.
