Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has expressed his desire to coach his former club and restore its winning streak.
The 40-year-old Spanish coach, who is now training Qatari team Al Sadd, revealed that his technical team was preparing for the Barcelona job, although he didn’t gave an indication as to when they will be offered the role again.
“The biggest hope I have now is to become a Barca coach and get Barca back on the winning track,” Xavi was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
“This is not for my sake, but for the success of the players and Barcelona. To achieve that the technical staff must prepare it and it is very interesting.
Speaking more on his dream job, Xavi said he would like to return at the appropriate time to start a project from zero.
“I was born from this club. I want to come back at the right time to start building this team from scratch,” he stated.
Xavi, who spent a two-decade long career at Camp Nou, won eight LaLiga titles and four Champions League titles.
As a coach, Xavi has a pretty good record with Al Sadd, whom he has been handling since 2019. He led the club to win the Qatar Super Cup and the Qatar Cup.
Currently, Barcelona are second in the La Liga standings with 69 points two points behind Real Madrid, who are leading the table with 71 points after playing 32 matches.
