Former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has been appointed the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Public Service and Gender Affairs ministry.
Elachi was among the nine new CASs who took their oath of office at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, 19th February.
President Uhuru Kenyatta advised the CASs to prioritise the completion of ongoing government projects in their respective offices.
He also urged the CASs to embrace teamwork to make all government agendas successful.
“We have an elephant task ahead of us that involves completing projects and programmes. I look forward to your contribution so that they’re completed,” he said.
The swearing-in was conducted by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
Those sworn in as CASs include Prof Japheth Ntiba Micheni (State Law Office and Department of Justice), Lawrence Angolo Omuhaka (Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operatives), Jackson Musyoka Kalla (Labour and Social Protection), and Eric Simiyu Wafukho (National Treasury).
Others are Alex Mburi Mwiru (Lands and Physical Planning), Zachary Ayieko (Energy), Dr Sara Ruto (Education), and former University of Nairobi student leader David Osiany (Industrialisation, Trade and Enterprise Development).
Elachi resigned as Nairobi County Assembly Speaker in August last year, citing life-threatening incidents.
She will now serve in the Public Service ministry with former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh and Linah Jebii Kilimo.
