Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced dates for FKF Premier League/National Super League promotion playoff matches ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Kisumu All-Stars will play against third-placed National Super League (NSL) team Vihiga United in October.

The 16th-placed Kisumu All-Stars had obtained nine points from 22 matches before the league was suspended.

In a statement issued in Nairobi on Wednesday, 16th September, FKF said that a draw would be held to determine which team starts the match at home.

“Dates have been set for the FKF Premier League/National Super League promotion playoff pitting 16th placed KPL side Kisumu All-Stars against third-placed NSL side Vihiga United,” read the statement.

“The first leg has been slated for Wednesday, October 7, 2020, while the second will be played on Sunday, October 11, 2020. The winner on aggregate is entitled to a place in the 2020/21 FKF Premier League.

“A draw is set to be held, in accordance with Article 2.9.2 of the FKF Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football, to determine, which team kicks off the tie at home.”

FKF’s move comes a day after the Sports Disputes Tribunal (STD) upheld its cancellation of the 2019/20 campaign and declaration of Gor Mahia FC as the champions while promoting Nairobi City Stars and Bidco United to the top-flight league.

The league was suspended in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. which halted the sports across the globe.
