A National Youth Council (NYC) official has asked fellow young Kenyans to get ready and fully participate in its upcoming elections.
Aggrey Nzomo, the chairperson of the council in Kitui County, a position he has held for more than three years, said youth must be directly involved in determining their affairs.
“I am calling upon all Kenyans aged 32 and below to vie for youth council leadership positions at various levels.”
He said ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru had announced the election guidelines to be used and called upon the young people to give their views on the online platforms before the 7th July deadline.
It has been proposed in the guidelines that every ward sends six delegates to the constituency level. Here delegates to proceed to the sub-county and the county will be picked.
Each of the 47 counties will be represented by six delegates, who will finally elect the NYC chairman during the council’s congress to be held later in Nairobi.
