Gor Mahia have qualified for the next round of the Caf Champions League after a 3-1 win over APR of Rwanda in the return leg played at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday, 5th December.

Goals from Samuel Onyango (First half), Sydney Ochieng, and Nicholas Kipkirui (dying minutes of the game) were enough for K’Ogallo to qualify for the second round.

APR’s consolation goal was scored by Nsanzimfura Keddy in the 82nd minute after former Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge missed a penalty in the first half.

With the win, Gor Mahia sail through to the 1st round of the Caf Champions League on a 4-3 aggregate score.

In the first leg of the preliminary round match played in Kigali, on 28th November, APR won 2-1.

In today’s match, Gor Mahia needed a win, while the visitors were looking for a draw of any kind to proceed to the next round.

The Kenyans will now know their next opponents when Libyan giants Al Nasr Benghazi play hosts CR Belouizdad of Algeria on Sunday, 6th December.

The first leg of the second round of the preliminary matches begins in January 2021.
