Gospel Singer Rufftone Declares Interest in Nairobi Senate Seat

Veteran gospel musician Roy Smith Mwatia popularly known as Rufftone has declared interest in the Nairobi senatorial seat come 2022.

In an interview with Churchill, the award-winning musician said that he has officially joined politics and optimistic that he will be the next Nairobi Senator.

“I am disclosing this for the first time in regards to what the future holds for Rufftone. You are looking at the new incoming Nairobi Senator, Mr Roy Smith Mwita,” he said.

Rufftone didn’t disclose the party which he will join to contest for the seat.

The seat is currently being held by Johnson Sakaja who has declared his interest in Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat.

With the declaration, Rufftone now joins the growing list of celebrities who have declared interest in political seats come 2022.

Radio personality Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o has already declared his interest in the Lang’ata parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket.

Recently, Churchill Show comedian Jasper Muthomi, popularly known as MC Jessy announced his plan to contest for the South Imenti parliamentary seat.

MC Jessy will be seeking to replace current MP Murungi Kathuri who has been in office since 2013.

Other celebrities who are eyeing political seats in 2022 include Frasha, Gabu, and Prezzo.
