Harambee Starlets Thump South Sudan in AWCON Qualifiers

Kenya national women’s team Harambee Starlets thrashed neighbours South Sudan 8-0 in the first leg of the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.

Neddy Atieno scored four goals while Jentrix Shikangwa and Mwanahalima Adam scored a brace each to seal a comfortable win for the Starlets.

Starlets now shift focus to the return leg, which will be played on Saturday, 23rd October.

South Sudan will host the second leg in the same stadium due to the unavailability of Caf standards stadium in their country.

The winner on aggregate of the two-legged fixture will advance to the final round of the qualifiers, with 11 teams bidding to earn a place to participate at the AWCON in Morocco in July 2022.
