Harambee Stars Coach Francis Kimanzi Handed Two-Match Ban in Kampala Cecafa Tourney

The Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup Organising Committee has handed Harambee Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi a two-match ban for incitement.

The decision to suspend Kimanzi taken due what was deemed to be unsporting behaviour on Sunday prior to the Stars’ 1-0 victory against Tanzania.

Reports indicate that Kimanzi and other Kenyan officials mobilised their players not to play against Tanzania by locking them in the dressing room over allegations that three Tanzanian players had no valid passports.

The game had to start 10 minutes late.

Deputy coach Zedekiah Otieno was also heavily reprimanded.

Kimanzi and Otieno were found guilty of chasing fourth official Mohamed Guedi away from the dressing room before the game at Lugogo Stadium, Kampala.

Kenya will face Sudan on Tuesday before concluding their Group B games against Zanzibar on Saturday.
