ODM leader Raila Odinga held a successful political rally at Burma Market in Nairobi, on Wednesday, 13th January.
The former Prime Minister made an impromptu visit to the market and managed to attract a huge crowd within minutes. He was accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and other leaders.
However, halfway through his speech, a section of the crowd started jeering him.
The hecklers chanted pro-Deputy President William Ruto slogans, chanting: “Ruto! Ruto! Ruto!…”
They also unsuccessfully tried to present a wheelbarrow to the ODM boss.
The wheelbarrow has become the official sign of the Deputy President William Ruto-allied “Hustlers Nation” movement. In fact, Tangatanga’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has its symbol as a wheelbarrow.
But the noise by the ‘Hustlers’ did not stop the opposition leader and his group from popularising the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
After addressing the people, the politicians had lunch at a neat, small restaurant tucked away in the market.

Raila went on to update his social media platforms with photos taken during the visit, downplaying reports of him being heckled.
However, DP Ruto’s allies camped at the comments section, sharing some of the videos taken when the former Premier was being jeered.
