In The Dark For 10 Years, Residents of Kasumarini in Malindi Cry Out to MP Aisha Jumwa Over Electricity

After suffering for nearly a decade now due to lack of power supply, the residents of the Kasumarini area, Malindi constituency in Kilifi County, has asked their MP, Aisha Jumwa, to help them out.

The lack of electricity has resulted in slow growth even as efforts to raise their grievances with the relevant authorities have fallen on deaf ears, always getting false hope.

Kenya Power staff often tell them that they are too far away from the nearest transformer.

A boys boarding school principal has described the difficulties they face\ when pumping water using solar energy.

The school head said it has been tough, especially during the rainy season, as solar is dependent to the sun. At times learning in schools is paralysed.

“We have built good houses and wish to engage in business but it is possible without power supply,” a local resident said.

The agitated residents have called upon MP Jumwa to come to their aid.

Some of them accused her of literally abandoning them since they elected her to Parliament.
