Kenya has recorded 437 more Covid-19 cases out of 4,311 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 43, 580 the total number of confirmed cases.
In a statement issued on Friday, 16th October, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that 430 of the cases are Kenyans while seven are foreigners.
Some 253 are males and 184 females, with the youngest being a four-month-old infant and the eldest being 95.
A total of 140 people recovered, 72 from the home-based care programme while 68 were discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 31,648.
Eight more patients have succumbed, bringing the total number of deaths to 813.
Distribution of Cases in Counties:
The cases were distributed as follows: Nairobi (136), Nakuru (66), Kilifi (29), Kisumu (26), Uasin Gishu (21), Kericho (21), Embu (17), Busia (16), Kajiado (15), Migori and Machakos (14 each), Kiambu and Meru (nine each), Nandi (eight), Bomet (six), Nyeri, Laikipia and Mombasa (five each), Nyamira (three), Nyandarua, Elgeyo Marakwet, Turkana, Tharaka Nithi and Wajir (two each), Murang’a and Siaya had one case each.
Distribution of Cases in Sub-Counties:
The 136 cases in Nairobi are from Kibra (40), Dagoretti North and Lang’ata had (9) cases each, Embakasi East and Kasarani (8) cases each, Embakasi central, Kamukunji, Makadara, Roysambu and Starehe (6) cases each. Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Ruaraka and Westlands had (5) cases each while Embakasi North recorded (4) cases and Mathare (3).
In Nakuru, the 66 cases are from Nakuru West (57), Naivasha (5), Nakuru East (2), Njoro and Rongai (1) case each.
In Kilifi, the 29 cases were from Magarini (25), Kilifi North (3) and Malindi (1). In Kisumu, the 26 cases were from Kisumu Central (23) and Kisumu East (3).
In Uasin Gishu, the 21 cases are from Ainabkoi (11) and Turbo (10)
The 21 cases in Kericho County are from Belgut (13), Ainamoi (6), Bureti and Kipkelion, a case each.
