Machakos Governor Mutua says the country needs a youthful and energetic leader to take it to the next level of development.
Speaking in a radio interview this morning, 15th May, the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader said he would be in the 2022 presidential race.
Governor Mutua said Kenya was in the 1960s, during founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s rule, on a par with Singapore, South Korea and other Asian countries that had now overtaken it in development.
Explaining that he was not disrespecting the older generation of leaders, he said he was convinced that Kenya was in need of new strong innovative minds.
“Those in leadership now have done their part. They have shown us the way. Let them now allow us take over the leadership and take Kenya to the next level,“ he appealed.
Leaders, who had “transformed powerful countries such as the United States, were young and able to wake up early and sleep late, while serving their nations”.
He said that he and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka had agreed to sit down and agree to pick the most popular person among them to fly the Ukambani region’s flag in the presidential election.
He said Maendeleo Chap Chap would not merge with or be absorbed by any big party “because I have a vision come the year 2022”.
Asked about the multi-million White House governor’s mansion he has built in Machakos, Governor Mutua said it was all about strengthening his legacy.
