Excitement filled the St Francis Catholic church in Nyali, Mombasa County after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived unannounced.

Uhuru did not even strive for recognition. He sat quietly at the back with his wife, Mama Margaret Kenyatta and followed the mass.

After the service, he mingled with fellow Kenyans freely outside the church building.

He was spotted chatting with some members of the church.

Before hopping onto his car, the congregation surrounded him, with every person wanting to greet him. He shook hands with many people as he could.

“We love you!” some shouted as he grinned cheerfully.

Asked to give his message during this Easter season, he said: “Happy Easter to all Kenyans.”

After the cheerful moment, his aide opened the door and he drove his family away.
