Kitui County government has cautioned the people about con men going around soliciting bribes promising them jobs at the Kitui County Textile Company (Kicotec).

Governor Charity Ngilu said in her office in Kitui Town that the company does not ask for any money when hiring workers.

“I want to state categorically that Kicotec is not employing currently. Anyone asking for money promising you a job at the company is a con man.”

She urged them to report such people to the nearest police station.

Kicotec has won a tender to produce face masks for distribution across the country.

The company is able to produce up to 30,000 face masks daily.

Traders and boda boda operators have been appealing to be provided with face masks since the government ordered that anyone appearing in a public place must wear one.
