Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has been admitted to the Nairobi Hospital after contracting Covid-19.
The news of her hospitalisation was confirmed by her Machakos counterpart, Dr Alfred Mutua, who spoke in Murang’a County during the Skiza thanksgiving ceremony for artistes hosted by Royal Media Services chairman SK Macharia.
Mutua said that Ngilu had asked him to inform the public that she had contracted the virus. She also sent her apologies for missing the event that was graced by ODM Leader Raila Odinga and other political leaders.
“I first want to bring greetings from our sister Ngilu, who could not be with us. She asked me to inform you she has Covid-19 and is admitted so please let us take care,” said Mutua.
This comes just a day after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communication Director Philip Etale announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19, for the second time.
Taking to his social media on Monday, 26th July, Etale revealed that since Monday last week he started to experience symptoms ensuing from a deep cough, blocked nose, and headache.
“Dear friends, I am battling a second attack of Covid-19. Since Monday last week, my body was acting funny with a deep cough and blocked noses and headache. I thought it was normal flu and bought a cough syrup and antibiotics from over the counter. However, the condition worsened to the extent that I couldn’t sleep.”
“My body weakened by day forcing me to visit the Aga Khan Hospital for tests. All tests turned negative. The doctor then advised me to go for the Covid-19 test which I did and the result posted positive. My dear friends, this wave is serious. I lost sense of smell and appetite. The body aches are excruciating and unbearable. The headache is severe and the whole body is tired. The waistline is painful to the extend I can’t wake up to walk. My nights are painful with no sleep.
Etale further announced that he would keep off from social media until he recovers from the virus. He asked Kenyans to keep him in their prayers.
“Dear friends, this is not a joke. I, therefore, request to go off social media until that time I will have recovered from this monster. All I ask from you is prayers. “
