The Jubilee Party candidates in the three by-elections held today, 18th May, have nowhere to hide if the provisional results are anything to go by.
Residents of Juja and Bonchari constituencies were electing new Members of Parliament following the deaths of Francis Munyua Waititu alias Wakapee, and John Oyieka Oroo, respectively.
Rurii Ward dwellers in Nyandarua County were also picking their new MCA.
After the voting was done at 5pm, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) began counting the ballots.
By the time we filed this report, the so-called State-sponsored candidates were trailing in the three mini-polls.
In Juja, People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) candidate George Koimburi had taken a commanding lead against Jubilee’s Susan Njeri Waititu, the widow of the late MP Francis Munyua Waititu. Koimburi has the backing of Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.
Pavel Oimeke, the ODM candidate in Bonchari is currently leading with at least 500 votes. UDA contestant Teresia Bitutu is coming second while Jubilee’s Zebedio Opore is trailing.
In Rurii, UDA candidate Francis Njoroge is bullying his Jubilee rival.
