CNN journalist Larry Madowo was taken aback when he checked into a hotel room in Gaborone, Botswana only to be welcomed by a Bible and packets of condoms placed next to each other.

“My hotel is doing too much,” he wrote on his social media platforms and shared a photo of the strange combination.

The Kenyan-born scribe was amused as he had never seen such a scene before.

Of the two choices, the international media personality declared his pick.

“Delight in the Lord.”

In Botswana, this is not an exclusive scenario. You are likely to be greeted by a Bible and these contraceptives in hotel and guest rooms as well as lodgings.

Why? Botswana is one of the countries worst affected by HIV in the world behind only South Africa, eSwatini and Lesotho.

Official statistics say, “prevalence of HIV among adults in Botswana was 20.8%.”

To encourage members of the public to enjoy sex responsibly, the government provides free condoms across the country.
