Malkia Strikers to Start Their Campaign Against Hosts Japan

The Kenya national women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, will start their Tokyo Olympics campaign against hosts Japan on 26th July.

Paul Bitok’s charges will then come up against 2016 silver medallists Serbia on July 30 and take on Dominican Republic on August 1, before completing the preliminaries with a clash against 2012 Olympic gold medallists Brazil on August 3.

Kenya will be returning to the Olympics after a 16-year hiatus. In their last appearance at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Kenya faced Brazil, Italy, South Korea, Japan and Greece but failed to secure a win in all competitions.

The Malkia Strikers topped the charts in the African qualifiers in Yaounde, Cameroon, with four straight wins against Botswana, Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon.
