Man Captured on CCTV Stealing Church Offerings

A middle-aged man was on Sunday, 9th February, captured on CCTV cameras stealing church offerings and tithes in Murang’a County.

The incident was recorded at ACK’s St James Cathedral in Murang’a Town.

Pastor Jane Karanja told members of the media that money offered by believers have been disappearing under unclear circumstances.

Karanja said it was only recently that the management of the cathedral decided to instal CCTV cameras.

“Since 2018, we noticed our offerings and tithes were disappearing. We tried many times to get the suspect, but failed.

“Recently, one of us proposed that we should have CCTV cameras to see if we will capture anyone and we were successful,” Karanja stated.

The suspect got arrested, thanks to the footage on the CCTV cameras.

He was handed over to the police who took him to a Murang’a court today, 14th February.

It was not immediately established how much money the suspect has stolen since 2018.
