Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has joined French Ligue 1 side Marseille following the termination of his contract at the North London club.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 18th January, Arsenal said Kolasinac had left the club “by mutual consent”.
The left-back, who had six months left on his current contract at Arsenal, has signed a one-and-a-half year.
“Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement with English club Arsenal FC for 28-year-old Bosnian centre-back Sead Kolašinac. After the success of his medical visit, Sead signed with the Olympian club until June 30, 2023,” Marseille said in a statement.
Kolasinac becomes Marseille’s second signing in the current transfer window after the capture of DR Congo international Cedric Bakambu.
The 28-year-old Bosnian international joined the Gunners from German side Schalke in June 2017.
He made 118 appearances for Arsenal and won several trophies (Community Shield in 2017 and 2020, FA Cup in 2020) before returning on loan to Schalke in early 2021.
This season he has made five appearances, starting just once in the Premier League, away to Man City in August when the Gunners were thrashed 5-0.
