A junior officer attached to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has committed suicide.
Police Constable Hudson Wakise turned the gun on himself shortly after shooting his wife dead. Pauline Wakasa was also an officer.
According to sources, the guard committed the acts in front of their two children.
Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said the man was suspected to have quarrelled with his spouse. The cause of the argument remains unknown.
“The National Police Service sadly confirms the demise of Force No.99047 Police Constable Hudson Wakise and his wife Force No.98615 Police Constable Pauline Wakasa following what seems to have been a domestic altercation in the early hours of evening yesterday.
“PC Wakise was attached to the VIP protection at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government while his wife was a traffic officer attached to Kilimani Police Station,” Mutyambai said.
He had been off duty since Thursday 1st April and returned to work yesterday before leaving at 3pm for his house near the GSU camp.
“Eyewitnesses and neighbours are helping the police with investigations into the incident, which took place outside the GSU camp at 5pm,” the senior police boss said.
