Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has announced that he will fly back to Kenya on Tuesday, 25th October 2022.
In a tweet on Thursday, 22nd September, Miguna stated that he would arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 8:20 pm.
“Homecoming itinerary. After nearly 5 years of forced barbaric exile, I’m returning home. Departing from Toronto: October 24, 2022. Arrival at JKIA, Nairobi: October 25, 2022, at 8:20 PM. See you, everyone,” he said.
The announcement comes days after Miguna received a new passport following a directive by President William Ruto.
“1687 days after Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, Fred Matiang’i, Karanja Kibicho, and Gordon Kihalangwa conspired to illegally seize and destroy my Kenyan Passport, President William Ruto has had a new one delivered to me. Waiting for the lifting of the red alerts,” Miguna said.
Miguna has been living in Canada since he was forcibly deported by the government in 2018.
The deportation came after he was arrested in connection with the mock swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the “people’s president” on 30th January 2018.
His attempts to return failed due to the red alerts that were issued and sustained by the government.
