At 19, how did you celebrate your birthday? Do you even remember how it was? Or if I may ask, how will you celebrate it?
Well, for Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s adopted son, Moses Gift Osinya, it was a day he will always cherish.
On Monday, 18th May, the young man turned 19, and his father made the day very special, indeed.
The governor jotted a sweet birthday message expressing his fatherly love for his son.
Seven years after fostering Gift, Sonko is grateful for the happiness the young man has brought into his family.
“The seven years we have so far shared with you while growing up are like treasures to our family,” the governor wrote.
The county boss disclosed the 19-year-old was tormented child when he joined the family in 2014.
“I can remember your moments of tears during the first difficulty days you joined us as family, but today I tell the rest of the world that the devil is a liar for God wiped your tears with abundance, happiness and love,” Sonko said in an Instagram post.
He also shared a short video of the milestones the lad has made in the last few years.
And how else would the flashy governor make the day extraordinary apart from the heart-melting birthday note?
The day would not be complete without a silky brand-spanking new car for Gift Osinya.
In the video, the youngster was captured taking a ride with his new machine.
Gift is a student at Lenana School, Nairobi, and will be sitting his KCSE exam this year.
How Sonko Adopted Gift and His Brother
Sonko adopted Gift Osinya and his younger brother, Satrine Osinya, after their mother was shot dead in a terrorist attack at a Mombasa church.
Satrine Osinya survived a serious injury — a bullet lodged in his head.
In the incident that attracted so much public attention, Gift was filmed caressing his younger brother with tear-filled eyes shortly after the shooting.
In 2018, Baby Satrine was gifted with a spick-and-span Mercedes Benz car on his birthday.
