MP on The Spot After Video of Him Beating up Villager Goes Viral

A video of Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali allegedly mercilessly beating up another man on Sunday 5, has angered many Kenyans.

In the viral video, the victim is seen being apprehended by a group of men before a man believed to be the Jubilee MP attacks him with punches and kicks.

The helpless man is also seen trying to explain himself before being slapped across the face.

Washiali, however, explained that the incident took place in 2015 and it was after “the man was caught siphoning fuel from my tractor”.

ODM communications director Philip Etale took to his Twitter account to criticise Washiali.

“Benjamin Njomo Washiali thinks that being an MP gives him the power to sit on his constituents. He must be arrested,” he said.

Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna also said that the MP should be arrested and frog-marched to prison.

“Totally unacceptable! So, the young man is not supposed to have money? When he does, he is physically assaulted and brutalised. Ben Washiali should be PUBLICLY ARRESTED and FROG-MARCHED in shame by members of the public to Kodiaga Prison tomorrow,” he tweeted.

Miguna, who was deported to Canada after the mock swearing-in of Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga after the 2017 General Election, has declared that he will be coming back to Kenya on Tuesday
