Mwangi Kiunjuri: ‘Uhuru, I’m Ready For Your Call, No Longer a Puppet in Ruto Camp’

When President Uhuru Kenyatta pushed him out of government due to his unquestionable loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto, former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri didn’t mince his words while calling out the Head of State over alleged poor leadership.

But one year later, Kiunjuri seems to be trying hard to get the attention of the President.

Just days ago, the former Laikipia East MP made a U-turn and said he was ready to move around the country preaching the BBI gospel to Kenyans.

Kiunjuri said he was happy with the revised BBI report, as it addresses many of the issues that the Mt Kenya people have been complaining about such as underrepresentation.

And on Sunday last week, the The Service Party (TSP) boss noted that he was very much open to speaking with the Head of State over the unity of the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking to Inooro TV, Kiunjurii said the mountain region was divided and something needed to be done.

“We have so many political factions in our region. As we approach the 2022, we need to speak with one voice. I’m willing to bring all those factions together.

“If today the President call me and asks me to unite our leaders, I will gladly accept the offer,” he said.

Asked whether he had stopped supporting Dr Ruto, Kiunjuri said all he wants now is the formation of one team from his political backyard before the next elections.

“I have not withdrawn my support for the DP, but there comes a time when the unity of our people is more important.”
