Gor Mahia have been bundled out of the Caf Confederation Cup competition following a 2-2 draw with Zambian side Napsa in the second leg match staged at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday, 21st February.
K’Ogalo were leading 2-1 up to the last minute of the match only to concede a goal courtesy of a penalty awarded to the host in the added time.
Samuel Onyango scored the visitors’ opener in the 17th minute but the hosts equalised through Austine Banda a minute later.
Clifton Miheso restored K’Ogalo’s lead in the 20th minute and went to dominate the game. Emmanuel Mayuka converted a penalty for the hosts in the injury time and shuttered Gor Mahia’s progression dreams.
The Kenyan champions were stunned by Napsa Stars in the previous meeting in Nairobi after going down 1-0.
With the win, Napsa Stars qualify to the Caf Confederation Cup group stages on a 3-2 aggregate score.
Gor Mahia now misses out on the competition for the second year in a row having been eliminated by DC Motema Pembe of Congo at the same stage last season.
The Green Army now shift focus back to the FKF Premier League where they lie in 9th position with 16 points after nine league matches.
