A group of young people on Sunday, 8th December, stormed a meeting that Deputy President William Ruto was to preside over.
The youths, who had banners declaring support for President Uhuru Kenyatta, caused chaos, with scores of people getting injured.
Two days later, security teams in Nyeri have mounted a crackdown to arrest the suspects.
Nyeri County Commissioner David Kipkemei has said they will pursue all those involved.
“Everybody who was involved must pay the price. Lawlessness is not allowed,” Kipkemei said.
Several people are already in police custody as investigations continue.
Among those arrested is Ruring’u MCA and Nyeri County Assembly Deputy Speaker Samuel Kariuki, who was captured on camera beating up some people.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, who does not see eye to eye with DP Ruto is alleged to have been behind the chaos.
Several leaders have called for his arrest and interrogation.
However, Ngunjiri is among the leaders who have condemned the incident.
