The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has refuted claims alleging that it will not field aspirants in some regions of the country during the 2022 General Election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 21st December, the party’s Director of Elections Catherine Muyeka Mumma said that the reports are untrue adding that no such decision has been made by the relevant party organ.

“The ODM is a national party that will field candidates in all counties to reflect its national character,” said Mumma

“We urge all aspirants who are planning to seek our party tickets to ignore the reports and continue to seek and negotiate for support from the electorate in their respective electoral areas.”

Mumma also cautioned party members and aspirants against falling prey to some officials and members’ unfortunate overtures and promises of facilitating direct certificates for the 2022 general elections.

“Please note that no party official has been given any authority or mandate to issue party certificates to aspirants out of the party regulations.

“The relevant party organs will sit at the appropriate time and determine the matters on the issuance of the party certificates, in accordance with party laws and regulations,” Mumma stated.

She also urged aspirants to engage in local consultation for possible consensus among aspirants with a view of assisting party members to identify strong candidates for the 2022 elections.
